CHALLENGE & SOLUTION

THE CHALLENGE

Wind turbines operating in cold climates face heavy icing, plunging temperatures, and communication blackouts — exactly the conditions where most monitoring systems fail or lose data.

THE SOLUTION

Windrover stayed powered, kept sensing, and kept transmitting throughout an icing event that fully encased its solar panel and housing — with zero interruption to the data stream.

02

THE RESULT

✓ Stayed powered through full ice coverage
✓ Real-time data transmission, uninterrupted
✓ Continuous turbine behavior monitoring
✓ Zero manual intervention required

03

THE DATA BEHIND THE ICE

While the unit sat encased in ice, it kept recording. Real telemetry from turbine T12, captured live during the February 2026 icing event:

Vibration (STD) vs. operating threshold — run/stop state tracked without interruption.

Acoustic SPL, operating periods only — parallel signal to vibration data.

Full acoustic dataset, all conditions — one continuous, unbroken stream even as temperatures dropped to −21°C.

WHY WINDROVER IS DIFFERENT

Icing Detection

Identifies icing conditions as they form on the blade.

Lightning Sensing

Detects lightning impacts in real time.

Damage Typing

Identifies the type of damage sustained.

Severity Estimation

Estimates how severe detected damage is.

Correlated Signals

Links acoustic + vibration data to operational state.

One Integrated Unit

All of the above in a single compact device on the blade.

No fragmented systems. No delayed insights. Just continuous, intelligent awareness of turbine health — even in the harshest environments on Earth.

Extreme cold. Heavy icing. Real turbines. Real data.

Windrover keeps listening. Windrover keeps reporting.

Windrover keeps protecting energy production.
